Vendors love to play a clip. The clip is always 12 seconds of a friendly woman confirming a window. Nobody in that clip is standing in a garage in Homestead with a wet floor. Natural, in that setting, means: the agent stops when you talk, does not recap your name three times, and does not make you wait through a thank-you before it asks the only question that matters — can someone come today.

Three tells on a live line

First, filler. Humans say “mm-hm.” Systems that pause in dead air feel broken. Second, numbers. A zip code read back wrong is worse than a slightly synthetic vowel. Third, language mix. If your listing is in Spanish and the agent only recovers in English, the call is already half over.

Do not test from your desk

Call from the truck, on speaker, with the radio down but not off. Ask two things at once. If the agent picks one and forgets the other, it is still a form, just spoken. Forms are fine for survey companies. They are a bad fit for a burst pipe.
